JANUARY 2010

January, 2010 - BIKING - 5th Annual Snake Creek Gap 6 Mountain Time Trials (This is a time trial event along the Pinhoti Trail through National Forest Lands. Open to all. Thousands of dollars worth of prizes!)

February 27, 2010 - RUNNING - Scenic City Half Marathon, 5k and Charity Challenge (The half marathon is a great training race for spring marathons).

MARCH 2010

March 27, 2010 - RUNNING (Rock/Creek Trail Series) - Rock/Creek River Gorge Race - The River Gorge Race covers the Mullins Cove Loop in the Prentice Cooper Wilderness Management Area. The trail is scenic and varied. The 10.2 mile run is all single track running and begins at 8:30am. The challenging 6.5 mile run is all single track and jeep road and begins at 9:00am. Registration now open!

APRIL 2010

April 16 - 18, 2010 - ENTERTAINMENT - Bug-a-Palüza at Camp Jordan. Car show, entertainment, campout and swap meet. www.bugapaluza.com. The festival also hosts childrens art activities, live music, and food court).

April 17 - 18, 2010 - ART - 4 Bridges Arts Festival (The festival includes a fine-art market featuring artists and fine crafts people. The festival also hosts childrens art activities, live music, and food court).

April 17, 2010 - RUNNING - Chickamauga Chase (15k & 5k races around the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park where Union and Confederate armies clashed during the fall of 1863 in some of the fiercest fighting of the Civil War.

MAY 2010

May 1 - 31, 2010 - MUSIC - Nightfall Concert Series (Friday evenings only. Features headline performances by a wide variety of world-class musicians from around the globe).

May 1, 2010 - FESTIVAL - Chickamauga Down Home Days Festival (Four-day event in which the Chickamauga Lions Club hosts a golf tournament, chili and bingo dinner, gospel night and the official Down Home Days Festival. Entertainment and other information is announced as it becomes available).

May TBD, 2010 - BIKING - 23rd Annual Three State, Three Mountain Challenge (One of the southeast's most scenic and challenging centuries. The rigorous 100-mile option will take you through 3 states (Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia) and over 3 mountains (Suck Creek, Sand and Lookout). The moderate 62-mile option spans 2 states and 1 mountain. The 25-mile option takes riders across the hilly terrain of 2 states.)

May 14 - 15, 2010 - FESTIVAL - The TaleSpin festival is designed to showcase storytellers from various walks of life with themes that include youth stories, cultural stories, humorous stories, historical stories and more. This event will appeal to all ages with a variety of professional storytellers and themes to connect generations and cultures and to convey history, traditions and lessons for living.

May TBD, 2010 - RUNNING - BlueCross Market Street Mile and Mystery History Quest (Test your speed in a one-mile race through downtown Chattanooga. Race features age group heats. Event also includes the family friendly mystery history quest).

May 22, 2010 - RUNNING (Rock/Creek Trail Series) - Scenic City Trail Marathon & Half Marathon - The Scenic City Trail Marathon will set the bench for a state record in trail running. The trails at Raccoon will be fast and forgiving, making for a great leisurely race for new trail runners or a full-on speed fest for those in the hunt for the first state record for a trail race. Now part of the Vasque North American Trail Tour, this year's Scenic City Trail Marathon & 1/2 Marathon promises to be an incredible experience.

May TBD, 2010 - MUSIC - Pops in the Park is held annually the Saturday before Memorial Day in the oldest National Military Park in the Nation, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. During the event visitors invited to bring lawnchairs, picnics, family and friends to the Wilder Tower area of the Park to enjoy wonderful music from a symphony orchestra while enjoying the beautiful scenery the Civil War battlefield has to offer.

May 31, 2010 - RUNNING - Chattanooga Chase (The oldest road race presented by the Chattanooga Track Club, the Chase includes an 8k race, a 5k race, and 1 mile walk/fun run through Chattanoogas Riverview neighborhood).

May 28 - 29, 2010 - FESTIVAL - 1890s Day Jamboree, Ringgold - Bring the family out to enjoy live music on several stages and many food vendors. Also featured will be childrens rides, beauty pageant, a fiddle contest, crafters, and a closing night fireworks display.

JUNE 2010

June 1 - 30, 2010 - MUSIC - Nightfall Concert Series (Friday evenings only. Features headline performances by a wide variety of world-class musicians from around the globe).

June 4 - 6, 2010 - SHOPPING - Dixie Highway 90 Mile Yard Sale - Along the nostalgic Dixie Highway, the "granddaddy of I-75", which stretches 90 miles in northwest Georgia from Marietta to Ringgold.

June 11 - 19, 2010 - FESTIVAL - Riverbend Festival (Six stages of world-class music, includes rock, classic, country, bluegrass, jazz, eclectic, R&B, and more).

June TBD, 2010 - MILITARY REUNION - 6th Cavalry Reunion and Memorial Service (6th U.S. Cavalry Association Reunion and Memorial Service at 6th Cavalry Monument on Barnhardt Circle in Fort Oglethorpe's historic district, listed on the National Register of Historic Places).

June TBD, 2010 - RUNNING - BlueCross Riverbend Run and Walk (Run in coordination with Chattanoogas nationally recognized Riverbend Festival, the BlueCross Riverbend Run & Walk includes a 10k race, a 5k race, a 5k walk, and a 1-mile fun run/walk).

June 18 - 20, 2010 - RUNNING (Rock/Creek Trail Series) - Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race - Three days of great trail running in the beautiful mountains surrounding Chattanooga. 20 miles on Lookout Mountain on day, 18 miles on Raccoon Mountain on day two and the 22 mile grand finale on Signal Mountain round out this challenging, but attainable series.

JULY 2010

July 11, 2010 - TRIATHLON - Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon (Fast becoming the regions premier triathlon, the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon features a 1.5 k swim down the Tennessee River, a 40k bike, and a 10k run. In 2008 the event will serve as a regional qualifier for the National Age Group Championship).

AUGUST 2010

August 14, 2010 - RUNNING - Missionary Ridge Road Race (In its 35th year, this 4.7 race is run along the historic Missionary Ridge, site of the unions defeat of General Bragg in 1863. Proceeds benefit the local chapter of the Red Cross and the Team Bruner Foundation).

August 5 - 8, 2010 - SHOPPING - Hwy 27 World's Longest Yardsale - Held from Gadsden, Alabama to Unity, OH and featured on HGTV, in Southern Living, Country Living, USA Today, Newsweek, The Tonight Show and more!

August TBD, 2010 - RUNNING - Racoon Mountain Road Race (This unique event features a 10k race, a 5k race, and a 5k walk around TVAs scenic Raccoon Mountain hydroelectric reservoir. Proceeds from the race benefit TVAs Partners in Education Program).

September 6, 2010 - FESTIVAL - Labor Day at The Post (Outdoor festival, parade, BBQ, Kids Play Zone, live entertainment, military vehicle show and display).

September TBD, 2010 - MILITARY HISTORY - Battle of Tunnel Hill Civil War Reenactment (Living history and exciting battle action with guns, horses and cannons; walk through the 1477 ft. railroad tunnel built in 1850; visit the Tunnel Hill Heritage Center; concessions available).

September TBD, 2010 - FESTIVAL - Chattahippie Music Festival - The Chattahippie Music Festival is a celebration of peace, love and great Americana music going live in September. Over 400 bands and artists from around the world!

OCTOBER 2010

October TVD, 2010 - MILITARY HISTORY - Ringgold Gap Civil War Festival - In October of this year a statue will be erected in Ringgold Gap to honor General Patrick Cleburne and a two-day event, the first annual Ringgold Gap Civil War Festival honoring General Patrick Cleburne will be held on October 2nd and 3rd featuring a reenactment of this famous battle.

October TBD, 2010 - RUNNING (Rock/Creek Trail Series) - Rock/Creek StumpJump - Come run the premiere 50K trail race in the Southeast. Taking place on a beautiful dirt-packed trail with Tennessee mountain stone thrown in, and with a 2200 ft. elevation gain, the Rock/Creek StumpJump 50K benefits the Cumberland Trail Conference, a non-profit working to complete a 300+ mile long recreational trail running along the Cumberland Plateau. Looking for a shorter race on the same beautiful trail? You're in luck! There will be an 11 Mile course offered as well.

October TBD, 2010 - FESTIVAL - Praters Mill Country Fair - Stroll among displays of original artwork and craft demonstrations. Enjoy pony rides and hiking on the nature trail or paddle down Coahulla Creek. Taste the finest Southern cooking and tap your toes to authentic mountain music. You can even buy a bag of freshly ground cornmeal at this historic Civil War era mill, used as a campsite at different times by both Union and Confederate soldiers. October TBD, 2010 - RUNNING - Joe Johnson Mental Health 10k (A flat and fast 10k race through Chattanoogas historic Moccasin Bend, the Joe Johnson Mental Health 10k serves as a perfect qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race).

October TBD, 2010 - RUNNING - Signal Mountain Road Race (Run atop beautiful Signal Mountain, this 10k rewards many of its runners with freshly baked apple pies).

NOVEMBER 2010

November TBD, 2010 - COLLECTORS - Tennessee State Numismatic Spring Coin Show, Camp Jordan Arena - Dealers attend from all over the country to buy, sell and trade. Includes free appraisals, educational exhibits and a childrens program).

November 13, 2010 - MARATHON - Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and 10 Mile Race (Run through the historic Chickamauga Battlefield, the marathon was selected as Runners World must-do historic marathon of 2007. The event also features a 10-mile race and a Junior marathon).

November 13, 2010 - RUNNING (Rock/Creek Trail Series) - Upchuck 50k - On the beautiful Cumberland Trail, past Possum Creek, lies the trail that makes this the toughest trail marathon in existence! Rocky terrain, stream crossings, steep hills and sights like Beaked Trout Lilies and Immodium Falls (Thats what the runners call it) make it the most rewarding trail marathon. Join us, if you dare, for this minimally supported out and back single-track wonder.

DECEMBER 2010

December TBD, 2010 - RUNNING - Carpet Capital 10-miler (This race has been run since 1988 and is the RRCA State Championship race at 10 miles (Road Runners Club of America). It's part of the GA Run and See series and the USATF Grand Prix of Long Distance Running. The course is USATF certified and is one of very few certified 10 mile course in the state of Georgia).

December TBD, 2010 - RUNNING - Wauhatchie Trail Run (Course: a hilly 6.7 miles of gravel/dirt and rough trails on the lower slopes of Lookout Mountain. The elevation change between the lowpoint and the highpoint of the course is 410 feet).

December TBD, 2010 - RUNNING (Rock/Creek Trail Series) - Lookout Mountain 100k / 10k - Finish off your year with the longest run in Chattanooga history! A 10k option makes this a great way to end the year for everyone. Beautiful trails on the scenic and historic Lookout Mountain make this race a great goal for your training calendar. After all, the holidays cant just be parties and big dinners!

December 31, 2010 - RUNNING - Karen Lawrence Run for St. Jude (2-mile and 4-mile run in Downtown Chattanooga. Race proceeds go to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee).
